Kinda OT - One of Five Winners
BUT --- still .... a creative endeavor.
A quick description ... On My Own Time is an art exhibit that runs in the autumn here at the Everson Museum of Art. A panel of judges visit the displays at various sponsor locations, usually local businesses that encourage work life balance by sponsoring employee entries, and there are a couple of offshoot groups that get involved, one being a fairly small community art center that I belong to. This year 45 entries were sponsored by my art center. They were judged a couple of weeks ago and tonight my group's winners were announced at a reception held at the studio. Yes ... of those 45 entries, only 5 were chosen to go to the show at the museum.
Yes ... mine was one of them.
Don't know if I can get this link to work, this is a photo of the piece just before it was finished ... <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z182/SewOriginal0/Art%20Work%202012/?action=view&current=KatPortrait.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z182/SewOriginal0/Art%20Work%202012/KatPortrait.jpg" border="0" alt="Almost finished"></a>
I was/am truly, truly stunned. I am rarely at a loss for words, but I surely was speechless tonight when my name was called.
Okay, so now I really do need to finish up at least one of the pretty dresses I have planned!!!!

Re: Kinda OT - One of Five Winners
This so very wonderful Lynn, but not surprising to me!!! The portrait is a delightful depiction of childhood sweetness...beautifully done. Congratulations!!! Yes, you must get stitching on that beautiful blue double georgette or other pretty so that you'll be as lovely as your artwork for the opening at the museum!

Re: Kinda OT - One of Five Winners
Beautifully done, Lynn! You really captured the sweet innocence of childhood. Of course you deserved to win!
Now you definitely need to get working on that gorgeous blue georgette. You will need something equally stunning to wear to the opening of the show!

Thank you ladies ... If only I could make a living that supports a single woman at being creative ... I would have more time to be creative!

Re: Kinda OT - One of Five Winners
The most recent post made me realize I didn't identify the subject ... my 3-year old granddaughter in her ballet class. The piece is titled "Ballet Class". When I go to art class next, I will get getting a better and more complete photo before it goes off to the museum. Thank you everyone for the support of an OT creative endeavor.
