Post For the Military family project
I've been having so much fun stitching out Marie's stuffies and Karen's puppets for the children of military families. I think they will work nicely for the toddlers and preschoolers...soft warm fuzzies for their comfort and play.
I am missing my dgd's help about now...remember when she cut hundreds of little pieces of fleece for her pillow stuffing?? well, that is my job now and all the stuffies are filled with bits of fleece. Hoping none of them are attacked by doggies as there will be fleece pieces everywhere!!!
I am lovin' the stuffies, and stuffin' the lovies!!! I have 20 stuffies stitched, and not all stuffed just yet as well as 50 of the puppets ready. I can get 10 stuffies or puppets (or combo) from a 1/2 yd remnant of fleece!

Those are adorable. I never thought of doing the stuffies in fleece! What a brilliant idea. They are soft, and the fleece is stretchy so they can be turned easier and stuffed very nicely.

I am not good at any of them! LOL!

Roxann, those are sew cute done with the fleece; I have quite a bit of fleece in my stash so perhaps I should break it out and get with it. If I do take my machine to Kansas, the fleece stuffies might be perfect as the children can also help me stuff them.

Well, I tried to post this on the Haven Hands of Love topic, but it wouldn't let me post -- yet. So, here are the pictures I've waited and waited ... and WAITED to post:

Image

The first one is of two hand towels I made for two different vet wives. If you remember back before Christmas, Mizlilly inspired me to finish up some UFO's. These towels used some of Marie's Pineapple Lace I had finished but never used. I added the FSL Shepherd's Angel from Sonia Showalter. I suppose I really didn't need to use FSL, but they seemed to work so well. They were very well received!

Next are some more of the cell phone cases I made for my Navy wives -- most of whom have deployed husbands. One went to a vet widow who decided to use it to hold a hand warmer, which sounds like a good idea to me.

This is a basket of crayon roll-ups for my MOPS ladies, most of whom are Navy wives as well. Have I mentioned that I live in a Navy town? I started out making cell phone cases for these ladies, but one mentioned how useful these crayon roll-ups were, so I decided to make these for them instead. They love having something in their purse to keep their kids occupied that doesn't leave broken crayons all over.

I was on a roll finishing UFO's so I made this hand towel using some more of Marie's Pineapple lace. Like Mizlilly, I also used the Baby's Breath 4" heirlom alphabet for the monogram. I was so excited at how nicely it came out that I forgot the last color change for the centers of the f lowers  No problem -- I finished them by sew ing pearls in the centers, which I think was a great addition.

Next, I wanted to attach FSL to a candle but was never satisfied with the results. I took some more UFO's and created a sleeve for it instead. It's still not finished -- I want to add a candle wreath around the bottom, but couldn't find what I had in mind at the end of the season. So it will go back into the UFO box -- but just about done. Sorry, I don't remember where these motifs came from. (edit from JenniferB: the design is from Marie http://myembroideryhaven.com/lacemaking10.html)

Finally I had this ornament cover all finished except sewing it together and putting it on an ornament. Why do I get almost to the end and never finish the project? (See last project!) This design, "Peace Love Joy" was from Emblibrary a couple of years ago.

I also made a bunch of FSL snowflakes from Ace Points and Stitched Delight, but they left before I took their picture.

I had to reduce the size of these pictures so they wouldn't take up so much space here, but if you click on the picture and look in my Photobucket album, you will find the larger size -- if you want a closer look.
